Dermatofibroma
Dermatofibromas are benign firm, nodular lesions that can occur on the trunk or the extremities. They look and feel like scars and often result from a localized, intense inflammatory reaction on the skin such as an insect bite. The lesion can be yellow-brown in color and may be totally asymptomatic or slightly tender or pruritic. Many women often complain of having shaved over these lesions on their legs and causing temporary discomfort. A common characteristic of these lesions is that they “dimple” when squeezed. These lesions are of no pathologic significance and their treatment is considered cosmetic. Treatment includes cryotherapy, steroid injections into the lesion, or surgical removal.
